The Texas Rangers are going to pick up the 2017 option valued at $5.25 million bucks for 30-year old righty swinging catcher Jonathan Lucroy in the near future.  That was a no brainer based on what the Rangers traded to get him.  Lucroy played in 47 games for the Rangers during the regular season and he was 42 of 152 (.276 avg, .885 OPS) with 19 runs scored, 11 homers and 31 RBI.  He also played in 3 games in the playoffs for the Rangers in which he was 1 for 12 (.083 avg, .167 OPS) with 1 run scored.  Lucroy played in 142 games overall this year for the Rangers and Brewers in which he was 143 of 490 (.292 avg, .855 OPS) with 67 runs scored, 24 homers, 81 RBI and 5 stolen bases.  He made it to the All-Star Team for the second time in his career in 2016.  Lucroy has now played in 852 games in his first seven years in the show and he is 848 of 2,990 (.284 avg, .784 OPS) with 365 runs scored, 90 homers, 418 RBI and 29 stolen bases.  Lucroy should really help the Rangers’ offense and pitching staff in 2017!
